“Turkey turned the days of celebration into a massacre that brought death to people in Syria.”

“Yesterday, as everyone was celebrating Christmas and as we are approaching New Year’s celebrations, just on these holidays of love, brotherhood and peace, Turkey attacked North and East Syria. Turkey turned the days of celebration into a massacre that brought death to people in Syria. Turkey killed innocent civilians. As before, when Turkey was attacking North and East Syria, its aim was to destroy vital infrastructure. Civil targets were destroyed, tens of people were wounded or martyred, and some are still in a critical state. This spreads fear and uncertainty about the future among the people and may become another reason why masses of people become forcibly displaced refugees in these very difficult times. The aim of these attacks is also to destroy the project of the Democratic Nation and the Democratic Self Administration and to cause displacement of the local population in order to bring about forced demographic change. These attacks also happened just after the new social contract of North and East Syria was finished, a major democratic achievement. Civil societies and democratic organizations should stand up against Turkey’s war and violations of human rights everywhere. We commemorate all the civil martyrs of yesterday and send our blessings to their families.”
