Today, the Turkish occupation state is attacking Rojava (western Kurdistan) and North and East Syria from the air. The attacks, mostly drone strikes, targeted infrastructure, medical points, workshops, storage facilities, agricultural centers, factories and other civil infrastructure. Of course, this also means targeting the civil population and especially factory workers themselves. With these airstrikes, the Turkish state is carrying out its genocidal politics of annihilation against the different peoples of the region. It wants to empty out the region, destroy the local economy, and forcefully displace the population. It wants to completely annihilate the Kurdish people and other peoples of the region, a process that they have been attempting for decades. The willpower, resistance and decisiveness with which the people of the region have created and led the Rojava revolution, and the unity of the different peoples in the region, are a thorn in the side of the Turkish state. Turkey cannot tolerate a revolution, in which people have organized themselves and built their own self-administration. With these attacks, Turkey wants to annihilate those who are struggling for freedom and democracy, influenced by and connected to the philosophy of Abdullah Ocalan. It must be understood then, that the actual target of these attacks is the existence of these peoples, with their democratic culture, ideology and thought. Turkey struck places everywhere in North and East Syria, wanting to take its hate and desire for retaliation out on civilians. These attacks are attempts to annihilate the population— and to even create a new politics of death. They follow in the footsteps of plans to occupy the whole region. These plans have existed for more than a hundred years. The attacks happening in Rojava, are part of this plan. They are targeted towards a revolution that is defending the values of humanity and the women’s revolution in North and East Syria. This revolution could have only been developed with the sacrifice of the children of the region, who have fallen martyrs to defend the revolution. This revolution is their inheritance.
Everyone should know that Turkish politics is a politics of exploitation. It aims to maintain the Turkish state’s existence by crushing the will of the people, and oppressing their free thought. Turkey wants to fulfill its aims with any kind of method that is available, no matter how immoral. These attacks are happening over the Christmas period, showing Turkey’s disrespect for different religious beliefs. Turkey attacked on the celebration days that represent the hope for peace and stability. Turkey is furious about the brotherhood of all the different peoples, cultures and religions that exist in the region. The attacks target all the different peoples, showing Erdogan’s intolerance for different religions or cultures.
The war that Turkey wages today clearly shows that Turkey is no longer able to face the resistance of the YJA Star (Free Women’s Union Star) and HPG (People’s Defense Units) Guerillas, who resist non-stop the Turkish fascism that suffocates anyone and everything. The ones resisting in the Kurdish mountains are the sons and daughters of the people of Kurdistan, the Middle East and humanity. They are revolutionaries that wage the struggle for a democratic and equal life for the Kurdish people and the peoples of the Middle East more generally. The Turkish fascist mentality of occupation targets all democratic forces and aims to annihilate them. The actions in Kurdish mountains, that happen on a daily basis now, are a huge defeat to the Turkish state. This defeat that Turkey experiences and the inner chaos that Turkey faces in a political, social and economic sense are all reasons for Turkey to wage these attacks. Consequently, Turkey wants to distract the Turkish people from these troubles by attacking Rojava. Erdogan’s politics consists of genocide and assimilation, of only accepting one flag, one state, one nation, and one thought. In light of this, resistance will always be fundamental. The unbreakable willpower of the ones who fight for free thought, will always allow them to stand strong against these attacks.
The point that might be the most important one to emphasize, is that the attacks by the Turkish state happened just after the new social contract was finished and agreed on in North and East Syria. This was a very strategic step. Turkey and the forces of capitalist modernity stand against this social contract, they do not want this revolution to succeed. They want to prevent the prevalence of the philosophy of the Democratic Nation and the victory of the 12-year revolutionary struggle, a victory of youth and women, that turned this revolution into a revolution of humanity. Because of the revolution, the people can develop a free life. A democratic nation is a system that creates a free, ethical society that defends the values of humanity. With this victory, the oppressive system of Turkey, which is built on war, attacks, massacres, and genocides, is challenged. The social contract will be the most truthful answer against all attacks and all the genocidal and oppressive politics that try to defeat a free humanity.
Our people stand up every day, in every moment, with a strong desire for victory and belief in the revolution. This is what causes the revolution to last. We call on all of our peoples to strengthen their level of organization so we can defeat Turkish fascism together and defend our revolution. We must defend the values that we reached with the struggle and resistance of the martyrs. We can stop the politics of starvation, genocides, forced demographic change that the Turkish state continues to pursue, if we stand up together for the values of the revolution. Only then we can stop the attacks.
The Rojava revolution, the revolution of North and East Syria, started with pure willpower and free thought. It shows the decisiveness of our people. The solidarity of freedom loving people, gives it meaning and value. Fascist systems, the system of capitalist modernity, Erdogan, none of them can break our willpower or annihilate us because we have our own philosophy and freedom of thought. This revolution has developed with the efforts of thousands of martyrs and wounded friends, because of this, we will never give up on our struggle. These attacks that target our people, our infrastructure, and our citizens will not go unrevenged. These attacks will be answered, and the Turkish state will regret the moments in which these attacks started. This is our homeland and earth, and we are the children of a people with willpower who never bow to oppression. We will avenge all the martyrs.
